In 1996, Gary founded Graves Communications LLC, a marketing and advertising company that helps businesses of different sizes, financial service companies, credit unions, political candidates, non-profit organizations, and art entrepreneurs elevate their brands and sales. Gary also owns and operates several other successful businesses including, a small glass-blowing, and creative artistry.

As a tenured and full-time professor of business management at Fullerton College, Gary teaches courses such as Entrepreneurial Mindset, Principle of E-Business, Small Business Management, Principles of Advertising, and Creativity Matters! His teaching abilities allow him to inspire and guide his students to foster enthusiasm for the business management, technology, and creative realms.
